I'm still working on a couple of paintings. They are getting closer to being done. In the meantime, I was needing a new idea journal. I bought a premade journal at Hobby Lobby. I rather like the paper that is inside. Most of my journal ends up being pen and ink, not complete pages so I didn't need really heavy paper for this. First, I sanded the outside covers to rough them up. Next, I put down a layer of titanium white, not really thick as I wanted a little of the black to show through and then some fluid acrylic color. The little stripes of black are from a paper napkin adhered with matte medium. I did the painting of "Sweet Baby's Incident" separately and put it all together using gel medium.
Inside the covers, I adhered some scrapbook paper for a more decorative look.
On the back, I drew the little pen and ink drawings on deli paper and adhered them with matte medium.

Gorgeous Sunshine, I love your new journal. I was just looking at handmade watercolour journals on etsy and then saw your post on your new journal. How appropriate. Your one looks awesome. I'm planning to make my own journal at some stage. Just one of many things on the agenda that I may get around to doing one day.
Hope you are well.
Big hugs,
Kyles xo

OOO very cool, i really like the baby incident art :-D Art journaling is a work in progress for me (I only first heard of it like 7 months ago), I just am not sure where to start or what to do
Delightfully ghoulish -
Oh I just love your journal cover -the painting is fantastic-background is brilliant as well-and I've just had divine inspiration ,you should do online classes and we'd all purchase them!!!!(and I can hear you saying "shut up")!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your comment and suggestions with the watercolors. I will def have to keep both in mind for my next one, I think it may have been a combination of both the brush and rubbing too much in one spot. I never even thought about what brush I was using, I'll have to be more careful. And I'll never complain if all your journal attempts turn into paintings, I looove your paintings :-D
oh this look wonderful. a great cover like this is so inviting to pick it up and add more art to it!
I love both covers! :) This will be so much fun to work in.
Cute! Wish you could join Mindy and me on Tuesday. We would have soooo much fun!
